Valve Vs Blizzard For The DotA Brand

During the last months, Blizzard has tried to obtain the DotA brand name for their own. This was against Valve, the company that is currently developing DotA 2.
So the final decision was that Blizzard will keep their “DotA” brand for the non-commercial DotA map developed by Icefrog (Warcraft 3) while Valve can keep their brand for their DotA 2.
Those who follow Blizzard’s news are familiar with the fact that they are developing their own Moba (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena Games) video game. Their new game will be named Blizzard AllStars and will feature most of the well known characters from Blizzard’s games, from Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft universes.

After a few hours since the DotA 6.74b, there is a new version that is correcting one single bug. “Fixed Flamebreak not functioning properly with creeps”.
This fix comes after Icefrog changed these two features. Fixed “Flamebreak not interrupting channeling” and “Fixed Flamebreak affecting Magic Immune units”.
Download DotA 6.74c from here, free, fast server. The map has the same size as the “b” one, 8 megabytes and 216 KB. Use WinZip to de-archive the file.
If no serious bugs will show up, we can expect that DotA 6.74c to last until this summer.

After a week and a few days, the “b” map for DotA 6.74 was released, correcting a few important bugs.
Here are some of the bugs. Pandaren hero could instant reswpawn some times (no cooldown), the Ogre Magi could still have the bonus for his ultimate spell even after selling the Aghanim item, and a few others.
Download DotA 6.74b from here. Fast server, un WinZip to de-archive the file, and them copy it into the “downloads” folder.
The next map could appear in the summer if no important bugs will show up for this version, even though DotA 2 will be released.

After three months (since December 2011), there is a new map release, the 6.74 version. First of all, there are no new items or heroes. The 6.74 version is just bringing tweaks for almost all the heroes and items.
Stats have been changed for both heroes and items, damage reduced or increased, range of attack, price and mechanics for different items.
Also a few insignificant bug fixes and game cosmetics.
Download DotA 6.74 from here, free. The map has around 8 megabytes, as we can see on the official website, a second map that will come very shortly, within a week as a “final version” for 6.74.

Download DotA 6.73c

The third version of DotA 6.73c was released a few minutes ago, after the first map that was released before Christmas, followed a few days later by the 6.73b that fixed a few bugs and removed the Santa Pudge skin, the 6.73c is ready for download.
Since the winter holidays are over, the Christmas and holiday graphics like the Christmas tree were removed from the DotA map within the 6.73c version. A few optimizations have been made, the map file still has around 7,8 megabytes.
Regarding the fixes, there are 14 fixes for the 6.73c map, some regarding heroes and some regarding the new items that were introduced in 6.73.
Download DotA 6.73c from here, free, very fast server, mirror for getdota.com. Make sure to unpack the archive and copy the map in the right folder of Warcraft 3.
Most likely this map will be the last 6.73 map, we will see if there will be another release since DotA 2 that might move the DotA community there.

Four days ago was released the winter season map for DotA, the 6.73 version that included lots of fun stuff like a Christmas three, Santa hats, etc. Today was released the fix map that usually comes very fast after the first release, DotA 6.73b that is solving some minor bugs.
Here are a few of them listed. Player’s couriers will now be invulnerable near the regen HP fountains, some fixes regarding the Santa hats that still remain in the game probably until 6.73c that will come in 2012 if major bugs won’t come up.
Pudge’s Santa skin was removed. Also some bugs for heroes, items and abilities, around 10 bug fixes.
Download DotA 6.73b from here, fast server. The file has 7.88 megabytes. Use Winzip free software to unzip it, then copy it into the download folder of Warcraft 3.

The DotA 6.73 version seems that will be released in a few hours. The Getdota.com can’t be browsed at this time probably because of the high amount of traffic generated by the new map.
The download link for the 6.73 map is not available at the moment and neither the changelog file as playdota.com also can’t be accessed.
We will update as soon as the map is available and offer a very fast download mirror link.
Since tomorrow is Christmas, the 6.73 map could be a season map with some Christmas Easter Eggs as Icefrog released in the previous years.
Update, download DotA 6.73 from here, free, very fast server. The changelog is available and there are four new heroes and around five new items, almost all the heroes received certain changes, buffs, nerfs. There are even some Christmas goodies, Pudge Christmas skin, new theme for the map named CM skin, probably CM from Christmas.

A new map was released a few minutes ago, Dota 6.72d.
Dota 6.72e was released also today correcting a bug, download link Fixed a major bug with Firefly whenever there were no observers in the game.
Icefrog released a few minutes ago the third map this week, dota 6.72f that is correcting a bug (Spirit Bear would sometimes not have the Return ability active after it respawns until an enemy hero hits it.)
Download DotA 6.72f: download link. The map still has 7.8Mb.
What are the new things for this map? Some heroes received some tweaks. For items, cranium basher is now cheaper from 1150 to 1000.
A lot of bugs were fixed, mostly this version is about fixing bugs, there are no new heroes or items, probably we will get some in 6.73.

This weekend we got a new map for Dota, 6.72c, coming after one month since 6.72b that fixed a few issues.
What is new in 6.72c? We got a few changes for heroes like Gondar is getting more intellect, from 16 to 19, Crystal Maiden got a key change, other heroes changes, check the changelog on getdota.com.

A few new visual effects, spell graphic effects depending on the hero you play, also a few bug fixes. Download Dota 6.72c, download link.
